Cavs Exercise Team Option on Eyenga

The Cleveland Cavaliers have exercised their third-year contract option on swingman Christian Eyenga.
Eyenga, who averaged 6.9 points as a rookie last season, is under contract with the Cavs through the 2012-13 season. In 44 games last season, the Congo native averaged 2.8 rebounds and 21.5 minutes in 44 games – 18 as a starter.

Seeing rumors of JJ Hickson for Omri Casspi and a first-round pick (lottery protected) out there. Thoughts on this deal if it goes through? Personally I think I like it. Just seems to me like JJ isn’t gonna be sticking around in Cleveland any longer than he has to, so let’s get what we can and move on…
@Colin McGowan: No, he’s on the 2d year of his rookie deal — he was drafted in 2009, but the Cavs retained his rights while he played overseas the first year, before coming to the NBA in 2010. I think the reason they’re picking up the option now is that there is an advance deadline to either pick it up or decline it — they can’t wait until the end of next season to make that decision.
How much SF did he play last year… at 6’5″. He is an athletic specimen, and if we are going to have him as our starting 2 this year he won’t be able to be a decent defender. We need him to be a lock. Having a look at his shooting percentages was not encouraging. Plays defense, very athletic, can’t shoot. Add 4 inches and you’ve got TT. @thekyrieshow: we drafted him in 2009. He’s on the third year of his rookie deal despite only playing one year in the NBA.
If he develops a decent jump shot he can be great. I remember once reading an espn article about how he could make a big jump next year because of his defense. I could realisticly see him putting up 10-15 ppg next year due to the fact that we have almost nothing on offense and he will improve with another year in the system
One of the most exciting players on our team last season. Glad he will be a part of the team this season. With any luck, he will be a starting SG for years to come
why would they be exercising the 3rd year? isn’t it only his second year in the league?? sorry a little confused by that.
