I’ll always be thankful for 2016 and LeBron did deliver on his promise of bringing a Championship to Northeast Ohio but him leaving this time seems to invalidate some of what he wrote in that 2014 Sports Illustrated letter when he came back. I guess people change their minds and if his family wanted to live out in LA full time more power to them but he did say several times this was his home and he would never leave again. And I wish that Kyrie didn’t have to be a casualty in all this. I have to believe the seeds were sown for this decision at least a year ago and Kyrie knew. 2016 was wonderful but it’s crazy how quickly that team fell apart and now the Cavs 2 best players are gone in a years time with very little to show for it. Do right by Kevin Love and send him somewhere he wants to go and blow up the team and start over.

1) Try to trade Love at some point. Pre-season or pre-deadline. We need to tank so we keep that #1 pick.

2) Ditto with our pseudo expirings: Hill, Korver, & JR.

3) Hire a real coach. Messina or Hammond.

4) Develop the youngsters. Sexton, Nance, Cedi, & Zizic for certain. Hood & Clarkson next. Take fliers on Preston, Colson, & Mathias.

5) Let Green & Calderon walk.

6) Glue TT to the bench.

What a jackas$

No Comic Sans Dan sightings so far. No rampant jersey burnings. CLE fans are handling LeBron’s second departure a lot easier – thanks to that 2016 championship – but they have to be a little hurt that past 4 years also meant surrendering a future of Kyrie Irving & Andrew Wiggins

After Dwade tweet that Lebron’s decision wouldn’t be about basketball, I thought he was leaving. I thought it was only a slight possibilty he would sign with Lakers. They haven’t been in the playoffs for 6 years . There is no chance in Hell they would beat the Warriors. But buying that house in LA was a reality. I don’t see this move as helping his legacy win championships. It’s weird that isn’t his 1st priority.

Honestly, I am mostly apathetic and slightly relieved by it all. Don’t think we were pulling another championship out even if he stayed. Don’t think he will be pulling another championship out in LA even if they get Kawhi and Cousins. Only way is if GS is injured. They might be able to beat Houston if they get Kawhi. I don’t think Cousins matches up well with GS though. How many people think he will still be the best player on the planet in two years? It is probably close now considering how unguardable from every spot on the floor Durant is. So in the end I am kind of happy just to be moving on without the drama or sacrificing the future mentality. The cavs can now just concentrate on building organizational success. DG does need to change his mentality though. Needs to take a hands off approach on all bball related matters, hire the best scouting and player development, and the best talent evaluators in the front office. If he is not willing he should sell the team. Just hire away/headhunt from other teams and let the best talent available do their job. I don’t wish him ill,… Read more »

RC Kim

I assume their hope is to pry KD or Klay away from GSW next summer, then it’s all in play. Anything could happen…

I think the postmortem is that LeBron always hated Gilbert and planned to screw him over on the way out, but also wanted to get at least one title for NE Ohio because in his weird way, he did care about the fans. It was always dysfunctional and made for a curiously unpleasant viewing experience at times. Still, the Cavs fans got a championship and four Finals appearances, and he didn’t have to come back. LeBron is a complicated guy, and he was never an unalloyed joy to root for. But he didn’t have to come back in 2014 and chose to, I think that is always worth keeping in mind.

And like I said I am grateful he got us one. I just really have always disliked the Lakers. Would almost rather Boston win. But really I don’t want any of those three. So that is why I am mostly apathetic now.

Probably right on Gilbert. Too bad it was to my most hated team.

The Cavs should look to extend Love. If he won’t, then trade him, and anyone not named Cedi, Sexton, Nance, and Zizik can go. JR, Hill, and Korver are expirings, and any of the contenders (Philly, Boston, GS, LAL, Houston) will be bidding for them by the trade deadline. We should be able to net some second rounders for them.
