Live Thread: Cavs @ Magic (#LetsGetITStarted)
2018-01-06I’m not a big fan of The Black Eyed Peas, but this song has long since been adopted as part of the pre-game anthem medley for most NBA teams. It’s also the perfect lazy Saturday afternoon/evening game theme for me to put up in this instance, as the biggest development for the Cavs is the debut of what should be their starting lineup for the rest of the season barring injury or trade.
After one game of coming off the bench, Isaiah Thomas will assume his starting role at the point next to JR Smith, Jae Crowder, LeBron James and Kevin Love. He should bring some instant offense and spacing to the starting unit, and free up LBJ to play off the ball more. Derrick Rose might also make a return this road trip (although probably not tonight).
The Cavs indeed need to get it started again, having lost five of their last seven, and their last five on the road overall. Though just the second stop on the current road streak, at least it’s against a team that has also been struggling and should be winnable. Then again, the Magic embarrassed the Cavs back in October, 114-93, at the Q.
Prediction: The Cavs get it started with IT getting it started from the start… and cruise to a 117-103 win.

Delly needs to come back to cleveland. And bradley beal needs to grow a pair. Beal clearly slipped and fell when Delly attempted to foul him in transition, and Beal got up like Delly went rugby on him. Freakin ridiculous…i don’t know how anyone can watch that replay and think that delly was making a dirty play
Love isn’t a better rim protector than TT, but at least he stands his ground and takes some charges. TT excelled in the matador defense in the second half
got a win even with the corpses of jr smith and tristian thompson.
the last real play by the magic proved to me lue has no clue – his ‘all defense’ lineup included smith instead of cedi. does he not even watch the games?

The only things I can think of are:
1) Ty wants to give TT lineups a chance to succeed.
2) If they don’t, he wants to be able to say he gave TT lineups a good chance & keep TT’s attitude up, if he gets minutes reduced later.
3) He wants to reduce wear & tear on Love & Frye by playing TT.
4) Lue goes more on reputation than by what happens on the court, at least at first.
5) Lue is kind of an average coach.
If by average you mean he sucks, then yeah, he’s an average coach.
I am ready to say crowder is exactly who we have been watching all season ( we will never see the celtic crowder —ainge was aware of this also )—-1 decent game out of every 5 (or more ) games —IT or no IT —-this is what he is going to bring to the table
It’s only the first game with IT starting… still think Jae can and will improve…
Me, too. I would take Liggins back for Shump. Liggs stays in his lane & is a better passer.
With you on that one. Liggins was clearly better last year. That probably would have translated to starting the playoffs 2 – 2. Then anything could have happened.

I would sure take 6-8 mins of Liggins D over Shump. Remember how many times he began quarters with a steal or forced turnover?
Somehow… Jae Crowder was 1-7 and 0-4 from three… but still wound up a game high +29…
Sometimes +/- can be more about the other 4 guys. Though Crowder does allow LeBron to have easier defensive assignments. He has zero confidence in his shot & teams are putting 5s on him.

I wouldn’t mind taking a run at Herzonjia (sp?) in the off-season. Can shoot. Good athlete. If the light goes on, look out.

The offense with IT back it’s just awesome.
The things that really sorry me from the Cavs:
The defense continue to be really bad. allowing 125 points to the Magic is just unnaceptable.
