Live Thread: Bucks @ Cavs

Well, here are your Cleveland Cavaliers, fresh off a loss to the now 2-8 Atlanta Hawks. The Cavs stand at an underwhelming 4-6 record and face off against one of their primary challengers to the Eastern Conference throne. The Milwaukee Bucks’s record isn’t much better at just 4-5 but have not quite put on the same “How Not to Play Defense” clinic that the Cavs have. The first time these two teams faced off LeBron and Co. decided to actually show up, beating the Bucks 116 to 97. That was back when the Cavs actually played the slightest bit of defense.
Today’s Cavaliers huddle in the corner of the League with a defensive rating of 111.7, good for last. They will need to improve that tonight as LeBron’s successor, Giannis Antetokounmpo, looks to recover from their last loss to The Land. The Alphabet has been an utter nightmare around the league, averaging 31.0 ppg, 9.9 rpg, and 5.0 apg. That is an MVP quality line. Shoddy defense won’t bring it down any. This has led to some discontent within the locker room, which King of Social Media James supposedly is illustrating with cartoons on his Instagram.

Milwaukee will be feeling confident after trading the all but forgotten Greg Monroe and a first and second round pick for the maligned PG Eric Bledsoe. Luckily for the Cavs, Bledsoe won’t be able to participate tonight. Another bit of good news is that the Cavs have only lost to bad teams this season. Will the Cavs rise to the challenge yet again and bring their A-game against these Eastern Conference foes? Will the Cavs end up “Fearing the Deer” in route to another embarrassing bludgeoning? Hopefully the latter is true. As always, Go Cavs!

Great game by KLove! Tons of fight inside absolutely saved the Cav’s bacon tonight. Timely plays by DWade and some good shooting by JR. Also, not so many boneheaded turnovers down the stretch.
Rose is terrible. Let’s get IT back and send Rose to garbage time.

Cavs not the only EC contender struggling… Wiz lost to the previously 1-10 Mavs in DC tonight…
The Wizards don’t impress me and never really have.
Wizards starters are a very good unit. They are quite impressive.
Let’s hope the Wiz pull the trigger on a Boogie trade. He is a beast, but I’d rather face a Wizards team struggling to gel vs. current roster as is with all their continuity and comfort playing together. Porter would have to be dealt in any Boogie deal and that would actually really weaken their team…he has been great at all aspects of their he game this season.
That would actually scare me. I think he fits ok in place of gortat unless he expects a million touches in the post every game, which of course he might.
It possibly could work because he and Wall are boys…but I don’t see Boogie helping anyone win anything substantial. He’s too immature…he’s not good enough to overcome his on court baggage.
Yeah, that would be the hang up. If he could, I think he helps that team, maybe one of the few teams he works if you slot him for gortat and allows wall to create for him.
Good to see JR have a great shooting night…
Hopefully this game sparks JR. He wasn’t awful on d tonight either.

THIS BUCKS TEAM IS GOING TO BE A TOUGH OUT COME PLAYOFF TIME IF EVERYONE STAYS HEALTHY
If Parker comes back playing as well as he did, they will be problematic with Giannis, Bledsoe, Middleton, and Parker. That is one of the best starting units in the league if Parker is the same player. Of course that is a big if considering it will take him time to get going. Brogdon coming off the bench is a nice luxury.
Parker is OVERRATED. Terrible defender that takes the ball out of Giannis’ hands. I’m happy he’s coming back.
You are honestly telling me you think snell is better than Parker? Is that really, really what you are trying to say?
He’s probably saying Parker has too much usage…I tend to agree, the Freak needs the ball…
You can game plan for that lineup though. The cavs didn’t but if you double Giannis, they don’t necessarily make you pay. Middleton can create his own shot in limited spots. Brogdon isn’t a great penetrator. Bledsoe could alleviate. They certainly aren’t that good right now. It is way to easy to shut the rest of that team down right now and will be going forward without another scorer.
Also, I guarantee Kidd won’t be allowing Parker to highjack Giannis usage this year.
They could even go small with Giannis at the five, Parker at four, Middleton at three, Brogdon at two, and Bledsoe at 1. Three good three point shooters and two great slashers.

Love getting to the line like he can is a major plus for us. I agree, keep this game plan.
My favorite plays were the blocks Kev and DWade had on Giannis…
Rose was brought in to back up Kyrie, I think he’d be more effective coming off the bench. Wade is looking pretty good, particularly like his energy on defense. Start Wade and JR, Crowder, LBJ, Love, that makes for a big lineup with some grit.
DWade’s comments/criticisms were obviously heeded. Unlike his Chicago comments about the “youngens” not stepping up last year. He doesn’t like vets/starters. He doesn’t like rooks/bench players. I think DWade just is a meanie.

I think Wade shoul be playing around 20 minutes a game, but if anything he should get some of Rose’s minutes…if IT comes back early, it cannot be too soon…

Love 0/0 from 3 point and he dominated, 16 boards, 8 offensive. If they would consistently post him at the elbow the Cavs would be a much better team and take the load off LeBron’s back.
Agree with that. But we have been wanting that for years now. He also got a lot of second chance points tonight.
Pretty good game by the cavs. They played better defensively, somehow, despite the numbers. This team probably just isn’t going to slow down any decent team much even if they are trying the whole game, which they were. They were just good enough though. They still had breakdowns, but this team will always have miscues and there seemed to be comparatively far fewer. Their effort was their for the vast majority of the game in my opinion.
