OKC effort to pad Westbrook’s stats backfired and gave Kyrie a five point play:

Take heart CTB, Scottie Brooks makes Lue look like John Wooden. What was he thinking having Wall and Beal try to defend LeBron. A lot of criticism of Love, truth is Wall and Gortat are the best p’n’r in the league. You can’t expect Love to stay with Wall and with LeBron posting up mice all night Love has to stand on the 3 point line and watch. The Cavs stats are always better when he’s on the floor. JR is still a dumpster fire. He might need an exorcism performed by Lloyd B. Free to release his gunner- mojo again. Crowder looked solid.

Jason Lloyd’s comment on JR ?

33. J.R. Smith remains lost in his own head. He only took three shots.

scotch

He is no more confused than Wade…who takes a ton of ill advised shots and doesn’t play system defense. Both would benefit from defined rolls and a systemic offense…both will have trouble with Lue just letting the guys improvise. Dwayne wade was once a league destroying ball dominant #1.
JR was once the 6th man of the year because he knew what was asked of him.

do either of these excellent pieces know what they’re supposed to focus their energy on? heck no. cuz they’re on the Cleveland Cavaliers. Did the Heat ever not have a hall of fame coach involved in their decisions? Did the 90’s bulls ever have a non-hall of fame coach involved in their decisions? The last time a title was won by a team that wasn’t coached by a non-hall of famer (erik spoelstra=pat reily) was the cavs…the time before that was the celtics…and they got lucky…when is lebron going to get a hall of fame coach? is he not coachable enough to merrit one???

omg can we please just take Delly back from Milwaukee! They have no idea how to use him properly…he was a podium all star in the finals and they have him playing with ONLY scrubs and trying to force him to be freakin Jason Terry or Jamal Crawford. The guy thrives when there are distractions, not AS a distraction. C’mon J Kidd you are wasting his career!

this is true…but Lue would have no choice with our current roster.

as i say this i remember Moe Williams playing a pivotal 2 game role in our title year. and I remember David blatt being enamored of Delly. You might be onto something…perhaps Delly is useful on a well coached team…and Lebron James, Kevin Love, and Kyrie Irving and friends overcame the best regular season team ever despite their not so great rookie coach…

I think all the leftovers will if Lue finds viable and regular rotations. Frye in particular thrives in consistent minutes at a specified time. But finding a real use for Dwayne Wade’s aging if still wickedly intelligent game is another task entirely. I could see IT coming back and creating the perfect situation for Lue, lineup wise. Rose as pg instead of wade for the second unit is a major upgrade.

I also still think LBJ, Korver or JR, Crowder, Rose, and Love at the five should continue to be the starting lineup going forward. I don’t think love can guard most mobile fours anymore in p and rs. Also I ave no idea why it would be a good idea for Love to show hard and hedge in p and rs considering how much time it takes for him to get back. Saw that a few times tonight. Better than switching certainly, but not a long term answer.

Hopefully, JR hasn’t been forked in the back. Love’s defense in pick and rolls has always been an issue but it may be untenable without a true rim protector going forward. Seems like Gortat roasted him in the first half. Would like to see Zizic more. Seems like he was in decent position when he was in and set some decent screens.

Love was just slow. Like really slow. He didn’t seem to be in a good position other than a few open 3’s.

JR is not mentally there. He kept putting his head down and arguing with the refs. He just needs to play and stop worrying about other shit.

Zz looked good. He has potential. He was willing to set multiple screens without being asked and rolled to the basket smartly. He has talent.

Yeah this was a “must win” for the team, specially LeBron, and he did what he needed to do to get the W.

This is in no way a winning formula. LeBron won’t be able to go for 30+ a night and for the full second half.

The team needed a victory and I’m glad they got it but plenty of work is still ahead for them.

Crazy performance by James! Hopefully we don’t need 40+ from him to win going forward. Defense was ok at some of the times I saw, but still miscues and guys getting torched or not closing out. They definitely tried tonight though. Beal torched us pretty bad and beat us off the dribble a bunch.
