ESPN’s Chris Broussard still had enough energy after his hilarious Twitter beef with Mavericks owner, Mark Cuban, to break the news that LeBron James will re-sign with the Cavaliers for two-years, with a player option for the second season. The timing was impeccable.

With James officially on board, J.R. Smith, Matthew Dellavedova and Tristan Thompson are the only remaining key free agents the Cavs must come to terms with to return their core from last season’s Finals squad. With James under contract before Thompson, the speculation than James and Rich Paul were holding the franchise hostage to get a bigger contract for Thompson will probably come under fire. Perhaps it was true. Things change and we, as fans, certainly overanalyze everything this time of year.

Even with the salary cap and luxury tax bumps, to $70 million and $84.7 million respectively, Dan Gilbert could pay almost as much in luxury taxes as Cedar Fair paid to purchase 700 acres of Geauga Lake ($145 million).
