The Wild Thing, Anderson Varejao, is going to be extending his contract with the Cavaliers. David Griffin announced this news earlier today; however, he was not allowed to give any details of the contract because of NBA league rules. Sideshow Bob has played his entire career with the Cavs and witnessed LeBron James leave for Miami. Last season he played 65 games and averaged 9.7 rebounds to go with 2.2 assists and 8.4 points. Andy has had trouble staying healthy throughout his career; however, he managed to go into last summer uninjured and used his free time to get into wonderful shape. He then played on Brazil’s national team and looked better than fellow Brazilian teammate/NBA center Nene throughout the 2014 FIBA tournament.

The Wild Thing played 27 minutes against the Knicks last night. His non-stop energy netted him ten points on 4-5 shooting along with four rebounds and one assist.

Andy has always been a hustle player and will be for the rest of his career. He is the first man on the floor for a loose ball. He goes after rebounds with the speed of a Formula One car. He sets more picks in one quarter than most teams’ entire front courts set during a whole game. And, he can finish when he’s under the rim like he has an extra sixty pounds of muscle helping him get the ball up. His style of play causes him to get injured sometimes, but it has also helped him to become one of the most beloved Cavs of the past twenty years. In the past three seasons, The Wild Thing has grown up offensively; he has shown the ability to pass the ball and run an offense from the high post. He has also added a hook shot to his game that is almost automatic when he is within twelve feet of the basket.

David Griffin even holds him as the example of a model Cavalier player.

“Anderson represents how this franchise wants to approach the game of basketball, both on the court and off,” said Griffin. “He has been a key part of our foundation for years and we are very happy that he will continue to be part of our Cavs family as we work towards our goals at the highest level. Andy is, and has been, a tireless worker, an incredible teammate and a great competitor that plays with a rare combination of energy and intensity that makes him truly special.”

Finally, Andy has the best hair in the NBA.

The Cavs are still working on an extension with Tristan Thompson. It will be interesting to see if they reach an agreement with him after tonight’s game against the Bulls. Tristan looked serviceable against the Knicks, but he didn’t rebound extraordinarily or do anything to prove he’s worth the 12$ million a year he desires.
