Here are Jim Tressel and Terelle Pryor talking about LeBron
2010-09-09James, who jilted the Cavaliers to jump to the Heat this summer, may attend Saturday’s game at Ohio Stadium between No. 12 Miami and second-ranked Ohio State.
Tressel said Thursday that it was time to let go all that anger.
“Sore subjects need to pass,” Tressel said at a news conference. “Things are as they are. We all make decisions. You have to respect one another’s decisions and move on.”
On some message boards and college football sites, angry fans have said they do not want James coming to the game. Some have hinted at violence.
James communicates with Ohio State quarterback Terrelle Pryor, who also urged fans to welcome the former Cavaliers guard.
“If LeBron does come, just treat him with respect and respect his decision,” Pryor said. “Please, no name calling, or booing, or anything like that because that’s my mentor. I have a lot of respect and a lot of love for him.”
James, who grew up in Akron, did not play college basketball. But he has said that if he had not jumped directly to the NBA, he would have attended Ohio State.
“He’s a Buckeye,” Pryor said of James’ rooting interest in the game pitting the Buckeyes against the team from his new hometown, the Hurricanes.
“He’s a Buckeye”? Easier to bate! Not all Cavs fans attended the U of O. Give him the welcome he deserves–the goodbye he never gave us. I agree with keith et. al.–stop talking about LeBron on this site. We sound like some jilted high school chick when we keep evoking his name at every possible moment. The day he returns to Cleveland (and you know he will, at age 38, set to retire a Cav) we can begin discussing his transgressions again… until then, GO CAVS!

Really not feeling it Joseph. Sure, let’s enjoy rebuilding, but we don’t have to be delusional about it. It just puts the spotlight on the parts that suck.

LeBron has been courting Pryor for the last couple years. Assuming Pryor plays at least close to as good as he’s expected to, he’ll get drafted into the NFL and LeBron’s management company will be there to represent the young quarterback. From a business perspective, I get what LeBron is doing. However, just like ‘the decision’ I wonder if LeBron thinks through the effect he has on Cavs fans, if he does understand, does he even care? How will Pryor feel if James decides to take his talents to the South Beach sideline during halftime? And how is it that he has such “loyalty” (I almost couldn’t even type that word in a sentence that references him) to OSU when he never had an ounce for the Browns, Indians, or (apparently) Cavs? Bandwagon much?
I wish there was a way to *like* Paul’s comment! Love Jim Tressel, but if “sore subjects need to pass” then they need to stay passed. Meaning, don’t show up at the biggest game of the regular season for the one team Ohioans have left and haunt us with your presence. Stay in Miami, sir.
