An ESPN.com survey that the entire basketball section of the website, including the THN, named the Cavaliers one of the three teams most likely to face “turmoil” this offseason. The Fearless Leader asked me to write about what kind of turmoil Cavs fans should expect from the team this year, and I obliged. Go forth and enjoy.
Nice write-up John.
I agree 100%. As long as fans and media expect the Cavaliers to be only a so-so team that most likely misses the playoffs (or nets a 7-8 seed at best), then I don’t see where any turmoil would come into play.
No wonder I haven’t been by in weeks (besides August malaise) — can’t get my F’ing comment through.
Good piece John!
I dont think the Cavs will have turmoil…the only thing the fans will be angry about is Lebron leaving and I really think the other players still on the team will step up a lot more and the Cavs will look like a team. There’s no more having a star player bailing them out…I see different guys stepping up..but the main core (MO Jamison and JJ/Varajao) being consistent game to game. I think with a new coaching staff, new style that the Cavs will surprise a little bit…but again Im not expecting anything major…i predicted this team to go .500 and still feel that way…i also think that record could sneak them in the playoffs…it has the last year or two i believe…also i had a dream the Cavs knocked the Heat outta the playoffs…and well…it would be great if that dream became reality hahaha
August might be the crappiest month of the year. Everyone is sleepy and tired. It’s to damn hot. Sports are soooooo slow, and to make it worse you’re right on the edge of football starting, but not quite. Most likely, Krolik has been like me and just trying to block everything out and get out of August as quickly as possible :).
Big news out of Denver. If true, it has to mean Denver spends the entire year trying to deal. It will be interesting to see how it plays out. If teams like Dallas, who absolutely are in win now mode, are willing to trade the goods for him w/o a committment beyond this year. We know the Cavs weren’t willing to do it for Amare, I wonder if anyone will for Carmello.
Nice write up. I don’t see much turmoil from the players on this team. I don’t know enough about the new coach to predict whether he will be a source of turmoil. It is a little surprising the panel picked the Cavs. It seems more likely that a team with high expectations like Miami and media attention would be a better turmoil candidate, especially if they have trouble living up to expectations.
