I got most of what I wanted to say about LeBron’s departure out of the way last night (I assumed he was leaving), so I don’t think I need to say all that much more here.
That said, here’s my post-decision LeBron piece for Pro Basketball Talk, which does cover some new ground about LeBron’s future.
Here’s the link: http://probasketballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/07/lebron-james-the-golden-boy-no-more.php
Let me know what you guys think. I’ve gotta get to packing, because tomorrow morning I go to Vegas to cover the Summer League. It should be fun, so try and sleep well. This blog isn’t going anywhere, and I promise we’re going to continue having fun talking Cavs and talking basketball. Until tomorrow, everyone.
LOL Rich you are hilarious..you are the backbone of this blog – even as its being infiltrated. So what could we get in a Snt? I still think the Cavs with this roster can be at least a 7th or 8th playoff seed. That would be..too soon.
(playing 1st seed Miami)
I dunno what to do. I know floundering around as a 7th and 8th won’t get it done. But, I really just want this team to prove it can win w/o LeBron, just for them.
That said, I’m really depressed because of the East. How in the hell are we ever going to be good now. The year we happen to crash, is the year the East becomes monsterous. Chicago/Milwaukee/NYK (if they land Melo)/Boston/Orlando/Miami. What in the holy hell are we going to do here? Only one of those teams has a bunch of age. Two of them are super young. two of them are in their primes. And another one has a chance to beat them all if they land the right guys next year. We can tear this down and build it back up and still be a 6th seed until the next FA bonanza.
I know what we can do. The Cavs are now a 29 team squad. Anything to beat Lebron. Anything. I hope he dies while losing. That man better never step foot in this state again.
I’m tellin ya, the best way to tear it down is by giving away the pieces to the rest of the East. It would just be glorious to see them run into Boston/Orlando i nthe 2nd round and get blown up inside.
haha. wah wah wah.. boo hoo hoo.. cavaliers now will be a 30 game winner, and all this whining about lebron is comedic.
Well, you deal with the Devil you get burned. I guess we have to take these draft picks, but mf’er it’s a pain to have to bow down to the Heat for this. Gilbert probably burned some bridges with agents and dealers but going after ‘Melo would be awesome. As would maybe picking up Paul at the Trade Deadline if we can stay competitive and NO sags in the West standings. I think hiring Byron Scott can give us some pull. Heads up. Making the playoffs as a late seed and matching up with Heat in 1st Round would get the entire country behind us. It’s small steps and victories at this point.
Miami probably will win 60+ games but so did Cleveland the last two years and they never made the Finals. Weird things can happen even with three All-Stars. I love how everyone is saying how it worked in the Olympics. Well, that is basically eight glorified exhibition games against shitty competition with Coach K, Jim Boeheim, Nate McMillan and Mike D’Antoni as coaches. To win the NBA title, you have to play over 100 games and bounce back from adversity. Wade has done it before, the other two haven’t. And Wade is also a little injury prone himself. And they are coached by a 39-year old career assistant who has had less success than Mike Brown, the guy LeBron openly defied and ignored against Boston this year. Oh well. Good luck to them!
The whole Olympics thing is so overblown. Yea it worked in the Olypmics, because in the Olympics Wade and Bosh were BENCH players. The team was insanely talented and every player you put on the court was a star. Easy to make it work when everyone is good. Not see easy when only three people are good and every single person who gets off your bench is a name you’ve never heard.
Hey, kiddies are getting on CLE fans still, know this, LBJ wasn’t returning ANY of Gilbert’s calls for a week. Understand that he had TOTALLY shut the organzation out and refused to let them know where he was going. Refused to give them any heads up so they could do some things. But hey, I’m sure you idiots will keep on sucking LeBron’s dick, and when he pulls the same shit in Miami (and he will..the ego won’t be able to handle all of the Wade adoration) you’ll find more excuses for him.
I will start to respect kobe more from now on than this guy…I mean he isnt as good as lbj skill-wise(lets face it, dude’s 31, he is past his real prime)…but he is so much better of a person than LeTraitor is…thats why he is blessed with 5 rings and LBJ has 0…hope you rot in hell for this dude…:@:@:@
I thought I was a lebron fan until “the big stupid decision”. This “super team is really built on a shaky ground. they won’t be able to get out of the east next year. Even if by chance they manage to get past Orlando/Boston/Chicago/Milwaukee, Kobe will kill them in the finals. 2012 will be durant’s year, if no longer kobe’s. It is also possible that by this time Chicago found another star to go with their much better constructed team. Then Dwight will be the most dominant player for a long time. Just add another perimeter player and they are all set. By the way, I want stan’s team to beat a pat Riley coached team as payback for what was done to him as much as I want cavs to beat Miami in a seven game series.
Also, is there any single player move which helped the career/legacy of other players? I see lebron’s decision help settle Kobe as the best player of this era… Propelled Kevin durant as the next great superstar… and in a few months time, helped people realize wade is the greatest player from the 2003 class..
Lastly, lebron didn’t just lose money from the salary cut, with the worldwide backslash of the big stupid decision, I believe it will drastically affect all his endorsement money.
Search “lifted athletics” on google and check out our lifting guide!! Its pretty helpful and it will get you in shape
If all you Lebron critics hate the means and not the ends, then stop saying all this bullshit:
1. that he sold out and ‘bought’ a championship
2. that he isn’t jordan and will never be as great as him for teaming up with 2 super teammates
Because that doesn’t make sense. If he stays in Cleveland everyone will say he’s a loser, and now what he did was give himself the best chance to win, you say he FREAKING SELLS OUT. what kind of stupid argument is that?
Call him cruel, classless, yes, for how he did his decision, because even that leaves a bad taste in my mouth. But criticizing his decision and saying he bought his way to the top? Preposterous.
