- Our very own, very talented editor Colin McGowan wrote a nice piece on Anderson Varejao for the Classical. Check it out.
- ESPN Insider continues the Kyrie love-fest, and I couldn’t be happier.
- A fantastic article from the Shadow League on black superstars, Kyrie Irving and the ephemeral idea of NBA “street cred.”
- Also, this is funny as hell.

Random thought… Is Bradley Beal’s ceiling how Wayne Ellington is playing right now?
Adam – way to early to know what Beal’s ceiling will be. My question is…what is Ellington’s ceiling?
What is Waiters’ ceiling? It’s much much much higher than Beal’s. Or Lillards or MKGs
I really haven’t watched Beal play other then when Dion abused him early in the year (Was more a comment on being very happy with Ellington)… I’ve heard hes been shooting much better since Wall came back, Idk I just never really liked him in the draft process anyways, except that he tested well athletically before the draft.
The thing on ESPN where they compared Lillard and Kyrie was funny and wrong, they will never be in the same class… Some dude on ESPN the other day said he would rather have Lillard because they think Kyrie is going to be Injury prone? Pissed me off, Lillard was/is insanely NBA ready. Will be interesting to see how much he improves in year 2
MKG? A big Tony Allen?
Waiters ceiling is a shorter version of Wade/Harden totally convinced… His Floor is Monta Ellis with no turnovers
Irving might be injury prone. Honestly if the right deal is out there I’d trade him. The right deal would have to awesome no doubt but I’d have to consider something like Drummond, Detroit’s 1st and MKG in a 3 way where monroe goes to the bobcats. Just thought of that one now not saying that I’d do it or any of the other teams would, but its got to be in everyones mind now that the biggest things that could prevent Cleveland and NBA greatness from getting together again is Kyries desire and injury
Trading Kyrie would be very dumb.
Kyrie may be injury prone, but he hasn’t been, say, Stephen curry injury prone.
Kyrie might just be unlucky. It’s not like his injuries are all in a danger zone like the knee. Trying to be as objective as possible but I’m see Bill Simmon’s having Kyrie in the top five of his trade value list this year. He’s a marketable superstar making 500 K less than Luke Walton. He’s efficient AI without the thuggery or selfishness. His playing deficiencies are correctable and actually pretty common for young players. Due to his age, demeanor, salary and skills he’s probably gonna be third on Simmon’s list after only Lebron and Durant. I wouldn’t trade Kyrie unless he refused to sign an extension.
NBA comps are a tricky game because few star players are exactly like another one. I think Dion was the pick because Grant is trying to replicate the last title team who’s best player was a point guard, the bad boy Pistons. Waiters is the evolution of Joe Dumars. A stout shooting guard with grit. It might take some time but I think Waiters is going to be a stellar defensive player. His mid range game has improved greatly two. I think he’ll be viewed as having the second best rookie season of the 2012 class by the end of the year.
Steph Curry’s lucky he didn’t get injured tonight picking a fight with Roy Hibbert
