Every single Cavs fan needs to cast as many All-Star ballots for Anderson Varejao as possible. He’s averaging 13.8 points, 14.6 rebounds, and currently sports a 21.96 PER. There’s some basic stats for you. If you think he hasn’t had a few monster games that could put him over the top, what about 35 points and 18 rebounds against the Nets? Or two 20 and 18 games in a row? Anderson Varejao should be an all-star, and let’s not leave this up to the coaches. I mean, Cleveland fans got Peyton freaking Hillis on the cover of Madden. I think a little thing like an All-Star Spot is doable. VOTE NOW.
P.S. VOTE AGAIN.
Tags: ALL-STAR, anderson varejao, Andy for All-Star, Pedro for President, Why are you reading the tags? Just vote for Andy

I voted! Have you? PS. The fact that Jason Kidd is only available as a write-in vote is a national tragedy.
Yessir! I agree. Also, where’s Sasha Pavlovic? Such an omittance.
Just wondering, does the NBA even report how many votes each player has? And, when does that start?
The NBA does report it, and Andy is pretty far back.
How many frontcourts make in onto the team?
3 front court players that start.
Andy is 12th in fan voting! Behind Bynum and Shane Battier. I’ve voted like 10x already. I dont think he has a chance at getting in by fan vote. fans are idiots, Thats why Bynum has 11,000 more votes than Andy. Hopefully coaches will vote him in as a backup
btw i meant 12th among forwards in the east, not 12th overall in fan votes.
Where’s the link to see the vote counts????
Ah, didn’t realize all of the reserves were coach selected. Here’s the link, Dan.

This is harder than getting someone on the cover of Madden. Hillis had a lot of things going for him. It was a tourney and he faced a guy who drowned dogs in the final. People love dogs. If Vick would have drowned cats there wouldn’t have been as much backlash. Hillis was also the White Rhino. White people LOVE when a white guy succeeds as a non white position. It probably wasn’t just Browns fans voting for him.
Andy has Cavs fans and Brazilians on his sides. Andy picked a bad year to put up this season. Under the old system he probably could have finished third at C. I could actually see coaches putting Andy on the bench for various reasons. Other than Chandler and Garnett there won’t be a true big on the team. You’d think they’d want three of them to battle with Duncan, Howard and the other bigs of the West. Andy also shows the hustle that most coaches would want out of their own players. Jamaal Fricken Magloire made an All-Star team.
Andy is trailing SHANE FREAKING BATTIER. That’s ridiculous
This is the ‘small market’ affect. Being in a small market and not getting any national television exposure keeps most NBA fans ‘in the dark’. Obviously ‘special players’ like LeBron or KD are exceptions.
The NBA should just do away with the whole all-star weekend and replace it with a 2v2 tourney. Each team selects 2 players and sends them to the for a double elimination tourney. it’d be so much more entertaining and the teams would actually try because there would be pride on the line. Oh and the winning city gets to host the tourney next year. Each team could get an alternate that could only play in case of injury. How much more entertaining would watching Rondo and Pierce, LBJ and Wade, Kobe and Dwight, Harden and Lin, Dirk and Mayo, Love and Rubio (or do give the nod to AK47) battle it out. Melo and Kidd or Amare or Chandler. Irving and Andy, Gay and Gasol, Glen davis and reddick (ok thats boring)
Sure maybe you need to lengthen the week but it would get better ratings then the finals. I would seriously watch every game. It could be better than March Madness. After a few years if you want to sweeten the pot, maybe the Team that wins gets home court in every series during the playoffs.
On the other side of the court you have the legends tournament. Where 2 players from a franchise at least 45 yrs old and retired 5 years play each other.
Two of the best ideas I’ve had in weeks
I would love to see Andy get in, but I’d also be happy for him to get a long weekend of rest in the middle of the season. I would also hate to see him break his elbow diving for a loose ball in the All-Star Game; the man only has one speed.
The fact that fan voting can vote in guys who haven’t even PLAYED is ridiculous. The NBA needs to seriously consider just having the coaches pick the entire roster, then letting the fans vote for the starters from that list. The fact that every year there are two or three deserving guys that can’t even make the team because idiots keep voting guys having bad years as starters is just awful.
Pete-Totally agreed. They could institute a minimum playing time standard at least.
I am not the first to say this, and happily so, but not only does Andy not have any competition for rebounder of the year this year, but he is one of 2 eastern big men in the top 10. The rest of the top 10 are out west. I don’t see how the coaches could snub him this year though…it isn’t as if Noah is near as important to Chicago as Andy is in Cleveland. They couldn’t…things like that don’t happen to Cleveland sports teams.
